Jacqueline

Hello, I’m Jacqueline Grimsley, the founder of HypnoBirthing Canterbury and The Positive HypnoBirthing Company.

I’m a Certified Hypnobirthing Practitioner, an NLP Practitioner, Time-Line Therapist, Hypnotherapist, BWRT Practitioner and TLT Practitioner.

In 2006, I discovered Hypnobirthing and was amazed at the results.  The method was developed by Marie Mongan, based on the work of the British obstetrician Grantly Dick-Read; the pioneer of modern natural childbirth.  During my training I met several Hypnobirthing mums and their stories were so inspirational, I couldn’t wait to start helping mums to bring about a calm, relaxed, natural birth.

Over the past 13+ years I have trained more than 300 couples (who have now had over 500 babies between them) across Kent and further afield, in the skills and science of Hypnobirthing.  Some of these couples have invited me to film their births so that other couples, like you, can see what can be achieved when you have the right tools, skills and mind-set.  You can also read many of their birth stories here.

I have trained in several different Hypnobirthing methods and have now written my own comprehensive programme and MP3s.

At the beginning of 2018 I started to pass on my experience and train 2 other hypnobirthing practitioners, both hypnotherapists and previous hypnobirthing clients of mine. We now have a small, dedicated, well-trained team, each with our own area of speciality and expertise.

When I first started out as a Hypnobirthing practitioner, I had no idea how many women had sadly suffered birth trauma, and so these days, I like to work one-to-one with clients who need more than the set programme. If you have had previous birth trauma or loss, please do get in touch and see how I can help you.

In my Hypnotherapy Practice, I specialise in Fertility, Pregnancy and Birth.  So whatever your concerns, I’m here to help.

I also offer pregnancy and hypnobirthing retreats in combination with The TOR Spa in Ickham.  So, if you find it difficult to attend a class over 4 weeks, why not take a few days off from the hustle and bustle of life and come and stay away from it all.  Enjoy some fabulous Ayurvedic Treatments along with your hypnobirthing classes.  Packages tailored to your requirements. Time spent focussing on you and your baby will always be time well spent.

Prior to training as a Hypnotherapist and Hypnobirthing Practitioner, I ran a Management Training Business, so when it comes to my Hypnobirthing classes, I can bring not only my training as a Hypnobirthing Practitioner and a Hypnotherapist, but my 25+ years experience as a trainer.  I understand how to make learning easy, fun and enjoyable.

Becca

Hi, i’m Becca, thirty (something!) years old, Mum to Joshua and Hope and Wife to Jamie. We live in sunny Ramsgate where we can usually be found exploring our lovely beaches, with the secret hopes that the sea air will result in that holy grail of the toddler sleeping the whole night!………. We live in hope!

I first became aware of HypnoBirthing when pregnant with our son. Following fertility treatment, we then had a scary start to our pregnancy when we eventually did conceive. My worries and anxieties from this were difficult to leave behind. Upon doing some research I discovered HypnoBirthing and found myself reading some amazing stories of wonderful, calm and empowering births. To be honest I signed up for a course feeling slightly skeptical, but of the opinion that it ‘would do no harm’. At this point, the emotions I felt about birth were all incredibly negative. I was fearful, anxious and genuinely didn’t believe I would be able to ‘do it’. After the course I can honestly say my mindset couldn’t have been more different; I was so excited about the the upcoming birth of our baby, and the labour experience that would bring him to us.

I come from a science and fitness background. I love to understand the scientific reasoning behind things. I will help give you the tools to use HypnoBirthing techniques that tap into your body’s natural physiological processes. Teaching you the things that your body already knows, so that your mind and body can work together to bring your baby earth side. The birth of your baby is a monumental occasion that you will want to feel prepared for; both mentally and physically. Our HypnoBirthing classes will allow you to do this.

I teach our classes with passion and confidence because I know HypnoBirthing works! I was told by a consultant that I “would never birth my baby naturally”, due to him being macrosomic (large). Despite my anxiety in early pregnancy, I remained calmed and made informed decisions on my labour, resulting in an unassisted, unmedicated natural birth of a perfectly healthy, and happy baby boy. I definitely put this down to the HypnoBirthing techniques I used, and love being able to share these skills with our clients.

I feel passionately about birth, and women being informed and equipped to have the birth they want and deserve; what ever this may look like to them. I would love the opportunity to work with you during this special time to help you positively prepare for the beautiful birth of your baby.

Your birth, your way

Jo

Hi I’m Jo, Mum to Evie & partner to Justin. I moved here from the west country 6 years ago for my partners Job and we are loving Margate life. I originally trained as a hairdresser and found myself naturally counseling my clients.

My curiosity got the better of me and I decided to do a counselling course but it wasn’t enough; I loved how the mind worked so I went on to research & study NLP, EFT & finally qualify as a Hypnotherapist.

During my training for hypnotherapy they mentioned Hypnobirthing and it’s amazing effects, so when I found out I was pregnant I had no doubt I would be having a Hypnobirth.

At my 20 week scan we found out our Daughter had major heart defects.

At this point all we knew was that she would need heart surgery when she was born and in later life too.

Thankfully I had already booked our course with Jacque at Hypnobirthing Canterbury and after digesting the upsetting news of what our baby’s future held I knew more than ever that my partner & I would benefit from the course.

I would definitely say that I don’t have a very good pain threshold but I can honestly say I didn’t feel anything during birth that I would describe as painful.

Because Evie was a heart baby we had to have her on the high risk ward of a busy London hospital, not the usual place for a Hypnobirth, I’m told! Needless to say we gathered quite a crowd at one point.

Evie’s heart rate remained steady all the way through and we had the lovely calm birth that we wanted & I felt we had given her a fighting start.

Hypnobirthing did much more than prepare us for birth, it has given us tools for life and it has helped us through so much more than you could ever imagine.

Evie continues to amaze us every day & is so strong and calm as a result. There is no doubt in my mind that Hypnobirthing played a massive part in our special journey.

I would love to help others & raise awareness of just how powerful this course is.
